La presente investigación, metodología utilizada y resultados, evaluó nueve genotipos de maíz con potencial para la producción de elotillo (baby corn) como alternativa agroindustrial para pequeños y medianos agricultores de Guatemala bajo condiciones de la Costa Sur. Se establecieron parcelas experimentales con variedades e híbridos comerciales previamente adaptados a la región, registrándose variables de ciclo del cultivo, rendimiento de elotillos y frecuencia potencial de cosechas por año. Los resultados evidenciaron diferencias entre genotipos en precocidad y producción comercial, confirmándose que el ciclo corto aproximado de 48 días permitió mayor intensidad productiva anual por unidad de superficie cultivada en la región. |
