La presente investigación se realizó en el altiplano medio de Guatemala, con el objetivo de aplicar la selección familiar convergente en una población de maíz (Zea mays L.) para mejorar su comportamiento agronómico y potencial de rendimiento. La metodología consistió en el establecimiento de ensayos de campo bajo un esquema de mejoramiento genético, evaluándose familias seleccionadas mediante criterios fenotípicos y productivos. Los resultados mostraron avances genéticos favorables en las características evaluadas, reflejados en incrementos del rendimiento y mejor adaptación, evidenciando la eficiencia de la selección familiar convergente como estrategia de mejoramiento para las condiciones edafoclimáticas de la región. |
